Gino Brombal

Obituary of Gino Antonio Brombal

Gino passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, April 30th, 2024. Gino was born in Caselle di Altivole, Italy on June 8, 1936.   A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. He was affectionately known by many as “Coach”, “Chief”, and “Papa Smurf”He was a talented artist, cook, harmonica player and gardener. He loved to plant fruit trees, play cards, check the obituaries and watch CNN like it was his job.  At an early age he was a shoemaker, later a welder and eventually worked with his brother Fausto and brother-in-law Settimo in a family plumbing business.

On June 20, 1964, he married the love of his life Mariarosa Soligo. He was a devoted husband who always said, “he deserved a medal”.  Their marriage was blessed with 4 children. He was a nonno to 12 grandchildren and a bisnonno to 6 great grandchildren. Gino’s memory is honoured and kept alive by his loving wife Maria, his children John (Lisa), Larry (Beth), Luisa (Andreas), and Cathy. His grandchildren, Cole (Kayla), Autumn (Neal), Trent (Chloe), Tate (Yezarni), Victoria (Jason), Owen (Kylie), Lauren (Michael), Joshua (Sophie), Andrea (Rachel), Ethan (Heidi), Chantel and Bryden. His great-grandchildren, Brinley, Olive, Zealand, Cooper, Daisy and Suade. He will also be missed by his siblings Angelina, Fausto (Valeria), Sidonio (Geraldine) and sister-in laws Anna and Mary and many nieces and nephews and friends. Predeceased by his parents Maria and Giovanni Sidonio, his brother Alessandro, brother-in-law Joe, brother-in-law Settimo and sister-in-law Luisa.

While he left us far too soon and unexpectedly, the legacy he left in all the lives he touched will remain with us always. Gino was a man of few words but when he spoke you knew he meant business and it came from the heart. He had an ability to make people laugh and his sense of humour will be missed.

A private funeral liturgy will be held.
